Cognitive Development

During early childhood, curiosity is often in overdrive and children become tenacious explorers, absorbing their environment like sponges.  Cognitively, children are eager to build on their schema and create new pathways of learning. The teachers, the child's peers, and the environment are all sources of information that pique and expand the child's interests.

Creative Expression

Art is an expression of our deepest selves.  Giving children opportunities for open-ended art allows them an outlet to explore, understand, and establish their creative identity. Art is therapy. Visual arts, like painting, help children relax and regulate. Performing arts, like dance and pretend play, allow children to share their imagination with the world.

Social-emotional Learning

In a dynamic and rich classroom environment, children learn social skills organically from each other.  Whenever needed, teachers step in to guide children to build interpersonal skills in conflict resolution, fostering trusting relationships, and the art of self-advocacy.
